Where can I find the application form?
The online application form is available in the Studyinfo portal during the application period.
Can I submit documents by e-mail?
The documents should be attached in electronic format to the online application. If this is not possible, the documents should be submitted to the applicant's first study option.
Which format should I use for my documents?
Please save your documents as pdf, jpg or png files. Please note that if you submit documents in other formats, you may be asked to submit your documents again in one of the aforementioned formats. Please name your documents clearly, e.g. Employer A, Employer B, Employer C etc.
My native language is not English, do I need to submit a language certificate?
The applicant’s language skills must be at a sufficient level, so that he or she is able to complete the studies in the level of higher education without problems. In most cases, Haaga-Helia does not require a language certificate but we reserve the right to ask for a language certificate or test the applicant’s oral and/or written language skills in the teaching language.
I have completed my degree outside Finland, can I apply?
You can apply but in most cases you need a recognition of your degree by the Finnish National Agency for Education. Without the decision on recognition, we are not able to process your application. We recommend that you apply for the recognition at least a few months before the application period for Vocational Teacher Education begins, since obtaining the decision may take time.
The recognition is in most cases needed only of the degree on which your eligibility for Vocational Teacher Education is based. A recognition on other completed degrees is usually not needed.
I have received a decision on recognition from the Finnish National Agency for Education and am required to complete some pedagogical studies, can I complete these studies in Vocational Teacher Education and how do I become a student?
In many cases you can complete the pedagogical studies required in the decision on recognition in the Vocational Teacher Education programme. Please contact us to find the best course of action for your situation. The recommended way to contact us in this matter is by email (opehaku(at)haaga-helia.fi), so that you can attach a scanned copy of the decision with your email.
You can become a student by going through the normal application process. At the beginning of the studies, you will make a personal development plan in which the decision and your previous studies may be considered.
My contact details have changed during the application process, how can I update them?
You can update your contact details by using the link to your online application, which you have received in the e-mail confirmation after submitting the online application. If you are unable to do this, please contact the Admission Services of your first-choice Vocational Teacher Education institution. If you have chosen Haaga-Helia as your first choice, you can reach us at opehaku(at)haaga-helia.fi.
Where can I find the lowest accepted scores of previous years?
The lowest accepted score for the study mode in English in Haaga-Helia in 2019 was 10,5. The lowest accepted scores of previous years are no longer comparable since the renewal of the application point scoring system in 2018.
If I have been accepted to my second study option, can I still wait for a study place in my first choice?
No, your study place is in your second study option and you can no longer get acceptance to your first choice.
Can I get acceptance from the waiting list, do you have study places open?
All eligible applicants who have not been offered a study place in either of their study options will remain on the waiting list in the order of their admission points. If a study place becomes available, the Vocational/Professional Teacher Education institution will contact the person on the first place on the waiting list.
If you have not taken part in the application process, you cannot be accepted to a vacant study place.
